Trust is the foundation of every strong school. When parents trust schools, teachers can teach. When teachers trust their leaders, classrooms thrive. And when students trust that the adults around them are working together, learning happens. But the truth is simple: trust in Oklahoma’s public education system has been shaken.
Parents feel shut out. Teachers feel disrespected. Communities feel unheard. After years of political whiplash and top-down decisions, many Oklahomans tell me the same thing: “We just don’t know what’s really happening in our schools anymore.”
I’m running for State Superintendent to restore that trust – through transparency, stability, and leadership forged by 40 years inside Oklahoma classrooms. I’m not running for politics; I’m running for Oklahoma’s kids.
Transparency Parents Can Count On
For 32 years as a rural superintendent, I’ve believed one thing above all: parents are not obstacles – they are partners. Trust begins with giving families the information they deserve.
Under my leadership, parents will know:
- Every curriculum and book in their child’s classroom
- Every program before it’s implemented
- How their school spends money
- What safety measures are in place
Transparency isn’t a talking point; it’s respect. When parents understand what’s happening in their child’s education, trust is rebuilt.
Stability in a Time of Uncertainty
Our education system has swung wildly from one political agenda to the next. Teachers can’t teach when the target moves every year, and parents can’t trust a system that changes with every election.
We need stability rooted in proven strategies – not politics. That means:
- Strong reading instruction through phonics and the science of reading
- Math foundations that build confidence
- Growth-based assessments instead of outdated, high-stakes testing
- Safe schools as the foundation for all learning
- Local control that respects community values
Our state has spent too much time fighting political battles and too little time improving academic outcomes. That ends with steady leadership that keeps the focus where it belongs: on children.
Respecting and Empowering Teachers
Teachers are the heartbeat of every school. But for too long, they’ve been buried in bureaucracy, tied to scripted curriculum, and pushed aside by political agendas. No system can earn public trust while its teachers feel unsupported.
As State Superintendent, I will:
- Cut paperwork and let teachers teach again
- Provide strong training in reading and math foundations
- Create statewide teacher advisory groups to guide education policy
- Restore respect and morale so we retain our best teachers
Better classrooms begin with respected teachers.
Local Control and Community Voice
I have spent my entire career in a rural district where community truly matters. I know firsthand that decisions made closest to students are the best decisions for students.
Local schools must reflect local values. Parents, school boards, and communities, not bureaucrats, should shape what happens in classrooms. When families have a real voice, trust grows.
Why Oklahoma Should Choose Me
I am the only candidate with more than 40 years in Oklahoma public schools – serving as teacher, counselor, coach, superintendent, and mentor to future school leaders. I have lived every challenge our schools face. And as a papa to six grandchildren, I am fighting for a future worthy of them – and the 700,000 Oklahoma kids just like them.
My mission is simple:
Safe Schools. Strong Academics. Trusted Leadership. Respected Teachers.
Together, we can restore trust and Make Education Great Again.
